Currency
The currency in Switzerland is the Swiss franc (CHF or Sfr) Euros are accepted in most businesses but change will be given in Swiss francs.
Tips
Service is included in restaurants and shops. Tipping is at your own discretion.
Currency exchange
You can exchange your money such as Euros, dollars, pounds, etc. at local banks (Monday to Friday) or at the Château-d’Oex train station (7/7). It is also possible to use the automated bank machines. Click here to consult the current exchange rates with the BCV bank.
Banks
There are two banks in the Pays-d’Enhaut : the Banque Cantonal Vaudoise and the Raifaissen Bank.

ATM/Bank Machines
The banks and the post office have ATM/bank machines. They are open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The machines are in Swiss francs and Euros and also allow you to check your balance and change pin codes if necessary. All of the machines accept major credit and bank cards such as Visa, Mastercard, Eurocard, EC, Postcard, Maestro, Cirrus, Electron, Plus.
Credit Cards
Major credit cards are accepted as payment in the majority of businesses, hotels and restaurants. They can also be used to obtain cash from an ATM. Debit cards can also be used as payment or used to obtain cash from an ATM.
Tax
The principal sales tax in Switzerland is the TVA and it is included in the final price. It is an 8% obligatory sales tax.
